Flying In

The pavilion was near capacity for the Hornton History Group’s first event of the year – a presentation by Trevor Jackson entitled RAF Brize Norton – 80 Years of Service.

Trevor, an RAF commissioned officer, told the inside stories of how the base has developed since 1937 as a key part of Britain’s defence strategy.

History group members are looking forward to a busy programme of talks and visits in the coming months including a visit to Chedworth Roman Villa, the Corinium archaeology Museum in Cirencester, the Roman amphitheatre and Rodmarton House – one of the original Arts and crafts houses, filled with Arts and Crafts furniture.

Other visits being planned include the National Trust’s Baddesley Clinton, the privately owned Maxstoke Castle near Coleshill and the Black Country Museum.
