Curtain Up

The Hornton Allsorts drama group is back! Last Monday, a really well-attended meeting at the pavilion got together and agreed to bring performances back to the village for the first time since the pandemic.

“Eighteen people turned up for the meeting, plus many others declaring their enthusiasm for being part of the group, but unable to make it on the night,” said Kevin Wain.

“We will kick off our performances with a theme night,” added Sarah Walther, who has taken on many roles with the Allsorts. “This will be fun night with a themed evening including food, drinks, songs, sketches and amusing little interludes.”

The group will also schedule a play for the autumn, so there’s plenty of time for any new recruits to come along and see what’s planned. You don’t need to have done this before and you don’t have to perform on stage – there is plenty to do behind the scenes.

If you’re interested in joining in, please email Kevin at kawain@zoho.com or call him on 670716.

“We also plan to arrange travelling theatre groups to visit us and give the people of Hornton a variety of theatre experiences,” he added. “This will be kicked off by a performance of Eddie And The Gold Tops, on April 21 at 7.30pm, performed by the Badapple Theatre Company.
