Hornton History Group Exhibition

Hornton History Group are gearing up for their most ambitious project for almost ten years.

A Child Through Time takes place in the pavilion over the weekend after next – September 10 and 11 – where you’ll learn about the history of the village through the eyes of children through the ages.

If it’s anything like the group’s last major exhibition – in 2014 when they recreated a fie-size World War 1 trench – you’re in for a treat

You’ll be able to sniff a Roman sauce, dress like a Saxon and let an archer’s arrow fly. You’ll learn how to write like a medieval monk, listen to Old English being spoken and learn what it was like to be evacuated to Hornton during the last war.

You also find out what it would have been like to be a child in Hornton as the Civil War raged and try your hand at the games medieval children would have played.

With loads of things to see and try, it is a family weekend not to be missed – and it’s absolutely free.

There will be a BBQ from midday to 2pm and refreshments throughout the day.

And on the following Saturday – September 18 – the group is inviting all Hornton residents to join them on a day long visit to the Battle of Bosworth site and Museum in Leicester.

The trip will feature a conducted tour, the opportunity to travel on a steam train through the battleground and then a visit to the King Richard Centre in Leicester, the grave of King Richard in the Cathedral. A very packed day will also include a visit to the nearby sites of Roman Leicester.

If you wish to reserve places, then please contact Bob Langton as soon as possible on 670359 or at bobslangton@gmail.com
