If you’ve been thinking of offering to helping Hornton Primary School pupils with their reading but you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time!
All you have to do is email headteacher Wendy Whitehouse at head.2001@hornton.oxon.sch.uk or call her on 670335 and come along to the next training evening next Wednesday – April 27 – at 7pm.
“Tea and coffee will be served, and I am looking forward to talking to you all about the role of a volunteer reader,” says Wendy.
The school wants every child to be able to read to an adult every week. All volunteers will be background-checked with the Disclosure and Barring Service and, if you’re worried about Covid, fear not: there are plans during the summer term for children to read to the grown-ups outside!
