Hornton History Group Party

On August 11 – Hornton History Group will hold its annual party in Lorna and John Abbott’s lovely garden.

And the hottest topic is bound to be the group’s remarkable new exhibition that will take us back in time all the way to the Romans and see the history of a village through a child’s eyes.

In A Child Through Time, you’ll be able to sniff a Roman sauce, dress like a Saxon and let an archer’s arrow fly. You’ll learn how to write like a medieval monk, listen to Old English being spoken and learn what it was like to be evacuated to Hornton during the last war.

You also find out what it would have been like to be a child in Hornton as the Civil War raged and try your hand at the games medieval children would have played.

With loads of things to see and try it is a family weekend not to be missed – and it’s absolutely free.

It’s all happening on the weekend of September 10 and 11, so put that date in your diaries and come along to the exhibition in Hornton pavilion any time from 10am to 6pm. There will be a BBQ from midday to 2pm and refreshments throughout the day.
